Profile: Brandenburg-Branch-Office

The business unit "Brandenburg-Branch-Office" is actively participating in the development of new forms of social work throughout the entire region and implementing them as social and welfare organisation in the region of Brandenburg.

We offer recreational and cultural activities for young people in our central institu-tions, demand-targeted assistance for young people in specific living situations and the implementation of projects throughout the entire region, including the scientific coverage, evaluation and coordination of the various parties involved. The technical committees of the Land Brandenburg (regional youth care committee, regional addiction prevention council, etc) benefit from the competence of the business unit “Brandenburg-Branch-Office” for their evaluation of development trends in youth care and their reaction to xenophobia and right-wing youth groups.

Experiences and acknowledged competence are available for the transformation of municipality-managed institutions into non-governmental organisations.

At present, we are working in four regional centres: centre, north, east and south, and in projects throughout the entire region. The fundamentals of our activities are the application of technical standards of social work based on the German Social Law, the Children and Youth Care Act and the Federal Income Support Act, the large variety of our offer, the principle of free choice for the concerned population, the promotion of self-help capacities, the focus on needs and results of social help strategies, the result-oriented evaluation of offered assistance and the cost effectiveness of our offered help.

Our additional maxims are: Prevention, decentralisation / regionalisation, every-day-life orientation, holistic approaches, focus on individual living situations, integration and normalisation and participation.

Projects and activities are offered in the fields of youth care, care for young people in specific living situations, addiction, vocational training, qualification and employment as well as social urban and regional development.

The proposals for action developed to solve the manifold social problems in the Land of Brandenburg are regularly checked in practice. In addition to numerous own activities we do that in cooperation with regional partners, project networks, regionally pooled resources and the coordination of work concepts throughout the whole region.
