Purpose of the foundation
The Foundation Sozialpädagogisches Institut Berlin - Walter May pursues the objectives of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt and is to contribute to the development of a society in which every human being can evolve and progress in full responsibility for himself and the community. The SPI mainly concentrates on the living situations of the concerned citizens, thus helping people with its social work to take matters into their own hands and develop self-help schemes.
On the national and international level the mission of SPI consists in actively participating to solve social problems, to further develop social work in theory and practice and to promote the initial and advanced vocational training of social workers as well as the understanding among nations.
Legal capacity
The Foundation Sozialpädagogisches Institut Berlin - Walter May is a civil law foundation with full legal capacity and its headquarters in Berlin. According to the Berlin Foundation Act, it is under supervision of the Ministry of Justice of the regional government of Berlin.
Non-profit status
Promotion of the purposes of the head federations of non-governmental welfare associations (member organisations) according to annex 1 in connection with article 48 paragraph 2, Income Tax Enforcement Decree (Einkommenssteuer-Durchführungsverordnung) - Chapter A, No. 6.
Certificate
The management of the institute is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 : 2000 (TÜV CERT) for the following scope of activities: Development, realisation and evaluation of projects / programmes / activities (local, national, international) in the following fields: Social affairs, youth, employment, vocational qualification, health, practical research in social sciences, social urban renewal (Main-Certificate-Register-No.: 20 100 0778).
Thanks to its quality-management system the Foundation SPI guarantees the required transparency in all work processes, the outstanding reliability of its services and the accomplishment of its missions as well as the best possible quality of its achievements.
The following business units of the Foundation SPI are subject to the same require-ments: Social Areas & Projects (Sub-Certificate-Register-No. 20 100 0778/01), Strategies of social Inclusion (Sub-Certificate-Register-No. 20 100 0778/02), Urban Development, Exception & Rule (Sub-Certificate-Register-No. 200 100 0778/04) and the Brandenburg-branch office (Sub-Certificate-Register-No. 200 100 0779/03).
